Quitting Is A Step Forward, Not Backwards

“My favorite part of my evolution was when I quit. There are certain things that I became in that time that I love about myself.”

Dave Chappelle said that in an interview recently and it resonated with me as someone who’s quit a lot over the years and…struggled to quit a lot over the years.

$50 million will change your life, but so will walking away from $50 million.

Not many people ever face a $50 million decision like Dave did, but we all face similar decisions every day.

Do you quit the job you no longer enjoy?

Do you drop the client that drives you crazy?

Do you abandon the creative project that you’re no longer inspired to create?

And if you do…

Does that make you a failure?

Are you giving in to fear?

Are you… a quitter?

No. Quitting gets a bad rap.

More often than not, it’s a step forward, not backwards.

A brave move, not a cowardly one.

And a decision that frees you – even if that freedom comes at a cost.

I’ve NEVER regretted anything I’ve quit – even if it ultimately turned out to be an “unsuccessful” move.

If there’s something in your soul you feel you should quit but you’ve struggled to do so, I hope you’ll take the fact that this post found its way to you as a sign.

Quit.

You won’t regret it.
