this is the passion, when I get on the bike I think of the many trips i’ve taken across the country in my younger days. now that i’m older, I don’t ride as much or as long, but I still think of those trips. my dreams [great add]

Yes, it’s a commercial. Yes, they want to sell something. It wouldn’t have been made otherwise. The famous paintings from the renaissance were all painted on commission for money. So what. The art is not debased thereby. Neither are the human emotions evoked for a hoped-for sale. TD Bank could’ve made something ordinary to sell their product. They didn’t. If I lived in Taiwan, that, above all, would have me choose where to bank. With TD. Not all sales pitches are cynical; and even if they have a point, they can still stir the soul.

Go for it!

I am about to turn 78 and for me it is skiing. This has kept me in good shape throughout my life, because I always looked forward to the next ski season and wanted to be prepared for it.

Inspiring as this is, that is not all there is to life. The greatest satisfaction comes from doing something that, even in some small way, leaves the world a better place.

Swayliff February 25, 2011 Reply

Man! After seeing that, I gotta do some banking! Anyone know where I can find a TD Bank? Ooooh riiiight… they collapsed when all the other financial institutions ruined our economy.

comfort of love and comradery…………..a substantial bank…….and wind in the face is good while riding the slats……….skied last week, at 90?

Wow!!! What a powerful statement to be made. As someone once, “Get busy living or get busy dying.” Which will we/you choose. You only get to around BIG BLUE once. Make it the most memoriable trip ever. It will have to last a lifetime.

this commercial is wasted on the young, only the seasond veterens can relate to this.
Yet it may make the young understand what it will be like for them someday.

It brings back a lifetime of memories and a tear to the eye.
At 73 and 72, my bride of 53 years still ride our Goldwing around the Northwest. Around town its a CX500 I bought new in 1980 and now has nearly 100k miles.
Keep riding!

Absolutely beautiful. I’ve never ridden a motorcycle in my life, but I may just start!! Very inspirational to read that it is a true story.

Larry Nix February 27, 2011 Reply

I’m 72 and as long as the Lord will allow, I will ride. There will come a time when I no longer can, but I just cannot sit down and wait for the grim reaper. Whoever did the commercial does have an insight to the important things of life.

Moved by the message. I feel less alone now, knowing there are so many ‘out there’ who feel as I do.
Still riding across country at 67; it appears I’m still a ‘youngster’ in comparison.
Alone in the wide-open country spaces I feel so connected to this world …. it’s a sense of ‘freedom’ running through my veins.
And when I stop in some tiny community and speak to a stranger a friendship forms, and it is this act of human communion which enriches my life and that of the new-found.
My dearest and closest friends have been found on 2 wheels.

Bob Amme February 28, 2011 Reply

I admit, it teared me up; I am nearly 81 myself & I still own & ride 4 motorcycles, including trials and dirt bike. I will keep it up until I become a “Ghost Rider in the Sky”!

This was very moving and rivals the best of the Budweiser commercials. Touched me deeply and inspired me to aspire higher. Five gold stars for this. Thanks for posting.

I have been on this island. It is one of the most beautiful places in the Pacific. My hat is off to these men. I would have loved to go with them.

Joe Garibaldi February 28, 2011 Reply

The message in the commercial is to “follow that dream” . Brotherhood is the injection of competitiveness and motivation regardless of pain. Instil inner strength to endure pain, that is a very small price we must pay for being alive.

My mother said, “Absolutely not!” when I wanted to buy a motorcycle at age 17. When she was in her 70’s she asked to go for a ride. She wanted to 100 mph so we did. At the end of the ride she said she finally understood what it was about cycling that I enjoyed so much. Even went so far as to say that if she were younger she’d buy one and learn how to ride it! Interesting, too, is that in the depths of Alzheimer’s she always knew who I was when I wore my leathers.

At 66 years old I still ride and truly love it.

Lisa Lonewolf February 28, 2011 Reply

When I began riding I met a woman, then early 80’s. She began riding AT 80 when she lost her PILOTS license. I have been Riding ever since. That was in 1987.

Very good – but no tears. 71, been riding since teen, raced on Okinawa as US Marine in ’60 & 61, still ride 10’s of -k-miles / yr. Just rode solo ^arctic-circle. Keep doing what you can – I’m fortunate, not good. Carla (6:13am on 02/13) – what’s wrong with scantly clad women?? – that’s much of what keeps me up! ReAl Tee…. (12:19 on 02/23) get some sleep!! You might be less upset about things. Take care – Pete DS

The doc just told a friend who is 85 that he must stop riding his Gold Wing 20K+ miles every year.

It will kill him.

It was beautiful! I don’t give a rat’s ass what Re-al thinks, I did time in advertising business also. It’s about LIFE and LIVING, and the fact that a bank actually had the integrity to use this as an ad without any mention of the bank except the last frame, is not only genius, but ethical, human, and I applaud them for doing it. I rode until my big bike wreck brain injury proved 2 wheels can’t work anymore, so now I plan to raise $4grand anyway possible to get the trike convert kit I need to get back on my bike and ride till I die. All my old time friends will applaud and join me, cuz most of them are also crippled up and broken and still riding in their 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, and maybe a couple of ’em hitting 90.
