The Power Of A “Bad” Business Name

I drove past this business last week – do you think it’s a great business name or a bad one?

My guess is you’d never consider naming your business, product, or service something like this.

You probably think it’s cheesy, generic, and blatantly false.

So did I.

At first.

But then I thought about it a bit and realized a few things.

1. The name caught my eye when I drove past unlike the hundreds of other businesses I don’t notice.

2. I know EXACTLY what they do and how they can help me from the name on the door.

It’s as clear as it could possibly be.

3. Calling yourself the “world’s greatest” anything seems like an obvious exaggeration, but…

I looked them up on Yelp and they have a 5 star rating from 200 reviews so maybe it’s not quite as far fetched as it seems.

(If you’re going to say how great you are in the name of your business, you better live up to it and clearly they are.)

4. I went to their website and discovered they’ve done work for places like NBC, Fox, and even The Jackson 5.

So clearly a lot of people think they’re the best in the world.

To recap:

This business chose a name that:

• Captures attention

• Clearly explains its value

• Sets a high expectation

And then lives up to it.

Seems like a pretty great name to me.
