The 10 “Rules” Of Buying

1. Never buy anything just because you got a deal on it.

2. Some purchases are an investment in yourself, others are an excuse to avoid investing in yourself.

3. We decide to buy based on wants, but then judge our purchases based on needs.

4. A useful question to ask before buying something: What are the odds I’ll think this is more valuable 3 months from now than I do today?

5. Some people define themselves by what they buy. Others define themselves by what they refuse to buy.

6. Immediate gratification is short lived.

7. The biggest buying decision is whether something is worth $1 or not. The actual price of it is a distant second.

8. You’re never going to know if a product is worth buying before you buy it, but you can decide what it would need to do to make it worth it and gauge how likely it is to deliver that.

9. You choose your buyers as much as your buyers choose you.

10. The longer someone waits to buy, the less likely they’ll ever do so.
