Here are the steps I follow when creating a new offer for a product or service I want to sell:
1. I figure out what I want.
Why am I doing this in the first place?
What would make it successful for me?
What do I need to get from it to make it worth my time?
2. I figure out what my target buyers want.
I don’t guess.
I talk to them, research them, study what else is out there.
Get clear on what they value/want.
3. I figure out how I can get both of us what we want.
This is the offer.
It needs to be something that gets both me and my target buyers what we want.
I translate it into this equation:
“You’ll get X result if you make Y investment and take Z action.”
Obviously, it needs to be a result I’m confident I can deliver.
4. I figure out how to price the offer.
This not only includes the price point, but also the price format, potential upsells, bonuses, and add-ons, etc.
I do the math on what I need for it to “work.”
5. I figure out how to communicate the offer.
This may be the most overlooked and important part of the whole process.
If I can’t clearly explain the promised result, investment, and format then it doesn’t matter how good the offer is – it will flop.
