A Better Way To Ask Newsletter Readers For Donations

I’m not a fan of asking your audience for donations to support your work, but here’s a way I’ve given people an opportunity to support my work that went well.

Once a year – usually at end of year – I’d put together an ebook (simple pdf) with all the stuff I shared in my newsletter that year.

I made it available for free and gave it as a gift to my readers, but offered it as a pay what you want product if people wanted to donate or say thanks for everything I shared that year.

I would give a suggested donation price of $15.

(Side note: if you do pay what you want for something always include a suggested price and most people will donate that amount.)

I originally suggested $10 and when I switched it to $15 the following year almost everyone gave that instead.

Anyway…

It’s a nice way to allow people to donate while also rewarding your audience and not constantly asking people for stuff.
