What To Send To A New Follower

When someone follows you, send them a direct message that says this:

“Hi Mike!

Thanks for following me – I appreciate your interest.

I’m curious…”

Then end with one of these five questions:

1. How did you discover me?

2. What made you want to follow me?

3. What’s your main goal at the moment? Happy to help if I can.

4. Have you created anything my newsletter readers might find helpful? Happy to share it with them if it’s a fit.

5. Who else do you enjoy following? I’m always looking for good people to follow.

Sending this DM to a new follower does a bunch of good things:

• If they reply they become 85% more likely to see your posts in their feed

• It starts a conversation which can lead to a valuable relationship

• It shows you care

• It lets you provide immediate value to them (which can turn a follower into a buyer)

• You learn what can help you attract more followers

• It allows you to thank a person who recommended you (if that’s how they discovered you)
