My five-word philosophy.

A five-word philosophy has the power to make EVERYTHING in your business easier.

Choose five individual words to guide your work including:

• What you create

• The products you offer

• The decisions you make

Below are the five words I’ve chosen for my business and some examples of how I turn them into questions to help guide my work.

1. Clear

Is my message being understood?

Do buyers know what to do next and why?

Is it clear who this is for and how it will help them?

2. Less

Is this necessary?

How can I maximize the value per minute?

What might I gain from doing, offering, or delivering less? What might I lose?

3. Premium

Am I proud of this?

Is it the work of a craftsman?

Does the value it creates for me reflect the value it creates for others?

4. Simple

How can I make this simpler?

What would it look like if it was less complicated for me?

What would it look like if this was less complicated for my clients?

5. Strategic

How will I know this is working?

What’s the ultimate goal and how will this help me (or them) accomplish it?

Is there a reason to do this in this way other than that’s how everyone does it or it’s how I’ve always done it?

BONUS BITS:

• Why 5 words? Because it was 6 word philosophy and then I remembered one of my words is “less.”

This one-word exercise from my podcast is another one that can improve your work.
