Many people avoid promoting in their emails because they think it reduces value.
But that belief is what’s actually holding their results back.
Why do you think your promotional emails are NOT valuable?
You’re scared of promoting too often in your emails because you want your emails to be “valuable.”
I get it.
I think EVERY email you send should provide value to your readers.
But…
You lose me with the faulty assumption that promoting your offer somehow makes your email not valuable.
Two things to keep in mind:
First, you don’t have to ONLY promote your offer in the email.
You can – and should – include value in a promotional email.
For example, when you promote a product include an excerpt to boost the value of the email.
The best way to sell a product is with a sample of the product.
Second, if you do send an email that’s purely promotional…
Isn’t that ALSO valuable?
Your product (hopefully) provides a ton of value to the people who buy it.
Telling your subscribers about it IS providing them value.
If you think your promotional emails aren’t “valuable,” you’re likely just insecure about your product’s value.
And if your product isn’t actually valuable…
You’ve got a bigger problem.
Long story short:
Stop categorizing emails as valuable or promotional.
Self-promotion isn’t a selfish act – it’s a selfless one.
You owe it to the people you serve to let them know you can help them.
