Is social media already dead?
I think it might be.
What people think of as social media these days is basically just TV on your phone.
It’s primarily video.
What you see is mainly from people you don’t personally know.
It’s increasingly a passive, one-way medium with nothing “social” about it.
Not only is the consumption of “social media” basically TV watching now, it’s even worse because you’re not even choosing what to watch.
You don’t even control the remote any more.
It’s like having the opportunity to watch hundreds of TV channels, but instead just saying “Hey CBS, show me whatever you want to show me.”
The death of social media is one of the biggest (and saddest) wasted opportunities of our time.
